Kidz “R” Us

kidz_r_us.jpgKidz "R" Us Credit Union is a credit union for kids at Eisenhower and Marshall schools in Dubuque, Ed White Elementary in Eldridge and Alan Shepard Elementary in Long Grove.  The Kidz "R" Us program provides an outstanding community involvement program while displaying DuTrac Community’s commitment to youth.  It also creates an opportunity to educate young students about how credit unions operate, train youth to manage their personal finances, and builds relationships with youth for their future.  The goal of the Kidz "R" Us Credit Union is to provide a fun and educational activity that will help students increase their financial literacy and grow to be good citizens and good savers.

The Credit Union is operated by the 5th grade students at the Dubuque and Eldridge schools and the 6th grade students at Long Grove.  DuTrac Community staff trains these students in every area of the financial arena.  DuTrac Community continues to provide support, training and guidance throughout the school year.

All students at the schools are eligible to participate and become members of the Kidz “R” Us Credit Union.  Each participant will also become a member of DuTrac Community and will automatically be enrolled in the Credit Union's Savasaurus Club for children age 12 and under.

Through the Kidz "R" Us Credit Union association with the schools, DuTrac Community staff present classroom presentations on financial education and business and credit union procedures.  DuTrac Community also offers tours of the Credit Union facilities, provides job shadowing opportunities for each student who works at the Kidz "R" Us Credit Union and makes assistance available to students in developing "money literacy" to help them plan and save for their futures.
